Regulations
These rules keep the marketplace safe, fair, and binding. Read them before you shake.
Allowed trades
If both parties freely agree, the following categories are permitted on ShakeOnItGigs.
- Skill-for-skill exchanges (e.g., tailor a dress in return for graphic design)
- Goods-for-services trades (e.g., event tickets in exchange for home repair)
- Time-for-time barters (e.g., language lessons in exchange for fitness coaching)
- Creative collaboration (e.g., photography for styling, music for video editing)
- Digital assets with clear, verifiable deliverables (e.g., code, design files, copy)
- Local pickup items under $2,500 fair-market value
Prohibited activity
Any trade involving the following is strictly banned. Violations may result in immediate account termination and reporting to authorities.
- Cash, currency, or cryptocurrency transactions disguised as trades
- Illegal goods, controlled substances, or counterfeit items
- Weapons, ammunition, or hazardous materials
- Stolen property or goods with unclear provenance
- Services that violate local labour, licensing, or tax laws
- Adult content, gambling, or lottery-style exchanges
- Any trade structured to hide income, evade taxes, or launder value
- Harassment, coercion, or trades made under duress
When a locked-in trade can be voided
A handshake is binding. Once both parties shake, the trade locks in. Backing out is only permitted under the exact conditions below, reviewed by our Trust team.
1. Rule violation discovered after shaking
If either party learns the trade involves prohibited activity (e.g., counterfeit goods, unlicensed services, illegal items), they may file a void request within 48 hours of discovery. Evidence must be provided.
2. Cyber fraud or identity misrepresentation
If a member used a fake identity, stolen credentials, or deceptive photos to secure the trade, the injured party may request a void. Our KYC data and message history are used in review.
3. Material misdescription of deliverables
If the delivered goods or service are materially different from what was described in the listing (e.g., broken item, unqualified instructor), the recipient may file a void within 7 days of delivery.
4. Force majeure or incapacity
Documented medical emergencies, natural disasters, or legal restraining orders that make fulfilment impossible. Documentation from a licensed professional or court is required.
5. Mutual agreement to unwind
Both parties may jointly request a void at any time before delivery is complete. Both must confirm in writing through the platform. This is the only non-adversarial path out of a handshake.
Enforcement
Our Trust team reviews every void request within two business days. Decisions are final. Members with repeated violations lose verification status and marketplace access. Severe cases are reported to relevant authorities.
By shaking on a trade, you agree to these regulations in full. If you do not agree, do not shake.
